This blog is dedicated to healthy living – focused on food and exercise – watch as I cook my way to maintain my own 105 pound weight loss and help others lose and maintain their weight along the way as well. For the year of 2010 – it is my goal to cook 365 recipes – 200 of which have to be modified recipes, the other 165 can be recipes that are already light. For the 200 regular recipes, my revamps must be lighter in calories and fat, easy for anyone to do, and taste really really really good.
A little about me, my name is Stephanie and I am in my early twenties, I live in Southern California, although my dream would be to live in Washington. Starting at around age 9 I was always the chubby kid, and I had built my identity around my weight. In January of 2008, I was diagnosed with being pre-diabetic, my weight had gotten out of control, and I was now at the crap end of obesity. At this point I weighed 255 pounds. I wasn’t content with my weight, but I really didn’t think that it could ever change. I figured that was just who I was. In June of 2008, I decided that I could make a change, and I decided that there was no better time than the present. I looked to my mom for help, she herself had lost a large amount of weight and I needed to know where to start. She helped me by getting me the tools and the motivation, and with her help and a lot of determination by July of 2009, I had lost 105 pounds. I discovered that I was addicted to food, almost like an alcoholic or a drug abuser. The tough part with being addicted to food, is that unlike drugs or alcohol, you need it to survive. Most people recovering from a substance addiction are told to stay away forever from that substance, not so with food. Instead I had to understand my enemy, and in the process I became fascinated, which is what lead me on the path to become a dietitian.
The first photo is of me and my fiancee not long after we had gotten engaged and was taken in December of 2007 and the second photo of us was taken in December of 2009 after maintaining my weight loss for 5 months.
The first photo is of me and my sister and was taken in March of 2007, the second photo is me taken in December of 2009.

I love your blogs, I can’t wait to see more!
Aww thanks Tara, that is super sweet! I’m so glad that you are feeling motivated!
How do I leave a comment associated with a specific recipe or blog
Hey Kathy – you did exactly the right thing, sometimes it just takes me a little bit to approve the comments, but what you did last time is all you need to do in the future! I hope this helps!
Hey Stephanie, just wanted to say I love what you are doing and how far you’ve come on your journey. I hope this goal of cooking 365 recipes will show your readers how easy it is to cook healthier and how beneficiary it is to your body just by tweaking a few ingredients. I’m constantly checking this blog for updates and I look forward to learning with you.
Yay Cat! I’m so excited that you are enjoying the blog and I think that it will be fun to learn some new things and hopefully teach others new things about food and nutrition! I’m glad that someone is excited to learn about it all with me!
Congratulations Steph on the launch of your healthy eating blog. Having had the opportunity several times to experience your revised recipes, I know you will achieve your goal for 2010. You are a very special granddaughter.
Grammie,
I’m so glad that you are excited about my blog – I hope that you enjoy trying some of these tips and tricks yourself! I hope you find it to be helpful!
Love you lots 🙂
Hi Stephanie,
Your grandmother (Tommie) told some of her quilting friends about your blog. Apparently some of them had the opportunity to meet you two or three years ago. I was not that lucky. 😦
My discovery of food blogs is recent. I am adding yours to those I follow. I am looking forward to your healthy recipes.
Hi Judy – such a bummer that we weren’t able to meet each other a couple of years ago, maybe one day soon :).
I’m so glad that you are adding me on, and I really do hope that you find the information useful!
Hi Steph, and hearty congratulations. Your Grammie shared the link with her QFT buddies. I was one of the buddies who met you and benefited from your fabulous photography, when we visited CA.
I can’t wait to mosey through your blog; you are an inspiration
Wishing you all the best for the future!
Kris, I am so excited to have you on here, hopefully you will be inspired by the recipes and by the different substitutions that can really come so easily! Thanks for being here and for all your kind words!
Hey Stephanie – don’t know you but I saw on Kathy Shaw’s FB (know her from church and our Israel trip:) – so I thought I would read your blog since I’m caring about healthy eating myself: ) – Good job for all you have done:) – wow – you are an inspiration to so many – your writing style is great too – really makes you clamor for more! Hope you post some recipes with your adaptations – that would be cool – hey this is kinda like Julie and Julia – loved that movie. God bless you in your efforts and know that you are doing a good thing!!!:)
Hi Wendy, I’m so glad that you were here! I hope that you find the information in this blog helpful and inspiring! Every week I will be posting at least one of the recipes that I do, and every Saturday you will have an opportunity to cast your vote for your favorite. The recipe that gets the most votes will be posted! I love that movie as well, in fact I talk about it in my first blog! Thank you for all your kind words Wendy, and for visiting my blog – it really means a lot! God Bless 🙂
Damn, indeed cool article. How can I find your RSS?
